For a period of time, I tried to escape the vicious cycle of hospitality by getting myself a day job, though being rather unqualified I started working in shoe warehouse which ended up being a depressing environment and was definitely one of the worst job I’ve ever had. Finding myself to be an outcast and disliked heavily amongst a lot of my younger co-workers, the best part of my day was the long walk home which happened to take me past a school that employed this tiny, elderly, lollipop lady named Milania. Overtime we became quite close, and we would talk almost every day. When I inevitably quit the job, I missed our interactions and wrote this song to remind me of our short but sweet friendship. My good friend and musical sister Grace Cummings sung some beautiful harmonies in the chorus.
lyrics
I get away
From work about the same time every day
From the place that I’ve grown to hate
Life amongst the breaker of the smiles
I’ve come to expect your face
Milania
Guider of the children’s daily fate
I can’t escape
These hoops we have to jump to get paid
And people think that I’m a little strange
Singing in the endless void of styles
I’ve come to expect your face
Milania
Guider of the children’s daily fate
No care for the rain
The sober wind that cuts me like a blade
Just as my legs start to ache
Our passing ends my day amongst the isles
And I’ve come to expect your face
Milania
Guider of the children’s twisted fate
This is the sort of punk album 99% of US acts would give their left nut to put out!! And TR brings an outstanding melodic element and some cracking vocals and lyrics! What a great collection of tunes!!! Get this album up ya, and then pass it on to your gen Z kids, mates!!! Ralph Douglas
