Conjured out of frustration with myself for slipping back into the loop of bad drug habits, I wrote this song after I felt like I was just going around in circles every day in some sort of zombie like state. I think musically I was listening to a lot of Crowded House and Tom Petty at the time and was obsessed with writing very short punctual songs.

The beast I bury through the day
Seems to rattle down my halls at night through rooms it ricochets
Until a sweat begins to build
Some magnetic, haunted cloud of smoke that gives my ghost a chill

Oh what a way to socialize
Shifting back and forth through gears of fear behind my glassy eyes
Of all the things I could’ve done
But instead I fed my lust for bed sucking on a dope filled gun

The great deception has me in its claws once again

Fueling every step.

I’m on the back step once again
And my lungs are heavy with the sound of traffic at 4am
I’m not sure how I got this way
If I could just break this goldfish bowl I might recall yesterday
