This was written deep amidst the time that shall not be named over 2020, the lyrics aren’t exactly poetic in any sense, I was just so sick of being locked up at home and was missing my friends and all the mischief we’d get up to after playing gigs. I wrote this while we were actually recording the album, so there’s a nice level of spontaneity and improvisation in the production that comes with only ever playing a song through once or twice before recording it live. I think we all enjoyed playing something a little upbeat and had a good time with it.
lyrics
Sunday morning I don’t feel too bad
By Monday arvo I am back on track
Tuesday, that’s when I get the blues
A costume of a man, with no good news.
Take me back to the weekend mama
Where good times linger on
Morning light, coming on too fast
Watch the sun creep through the balustrade
It’s okay, if you stroll the road you pave
There’s plenty of time to catch up on sleep in the grave
Take me back to the weekend mama where good times linger on.
All you snowglobers, you career probers, leave your pedigree rat at the door
What is a life spent working, just to work a little more?
Extra-curricular festivities
Come with hidden costs and late fee’s
A fair trade, to see behind the veil
You can guarantee on Tuesday ill be a little frail
So take me back to the weekend mama
Where I can swing like hunnah munnah
Some friends, a pouch and a record cover
And maybe we can kick on
This is the sort of punk album 99% of US acts would give their left nut to put out!! And TR brings an outstanding melodic element and some cracking vocals and lyrics! What a great collection of tunes!!! Get this album up ya, and then pass it on to your gen Z kids, mates!!! Ralph Douglas
